Life on the Farm

Every July 4th weekend Nick and I take a trip, with his Grandparents, to visit his Dad in Indiana. His Dad leads an interesting life. He not only has a business breeding Belgians, but he also works at Historic Prophetstown, where he runs a 1920's era farmstead. Life on the farm is so very different from the lives we lead at home. Nick's Dad works from sun up to sun down. It's exhausting just to watch. While we were in Indiana we also visited Purdue University, took in some scenery (which is really only windmills and corn fields) and found a delicious little local ice cream stand. Each day was full of things to do and see, but evening were saved for big family style meals. Nick's Grandparents take such care in preparing meals, with all the trimmings. My favorite memory from the trip involves sitting around the table, sharing great food and stories from our day. Sharing life together is good! XOXO
